MUB announces new opening on board of directors
Board member John Ganz changes residence, resigns
On Thursday evening Morgantown Utility Board member John Ganz tendered his resignation from the utility’s board of directors. The resignation is the result of Ganz having recently moved out of state.
The issue involves the fact that on October 26, Ganz sold his Morgantown residence, leaving him without a Morgantown address. Because Ganz is no longer a MUB rate-payer, he does not qualify as a member of MUB’s board of directors.
“It is very unfortunate to learn of Mr. Ganz’s resignation. However, understanding the circumstances it is the proper action. I can tell you that his contributions to the board will be missed,” said MUB General Manager Tim Ball. “His was integral to MUB’s success and continued growth.”
Ganz served on MUB’s board of directors since September 13, 2011.
Applications for the vacated positon can be found at http://morgantownwv.gov/. MUB customers are welcome to apply, with interviews and appointments made by Morgantown City Council.
This new opening is in addition to the potential vacancy created by the expiration of the term of current Board member Bill Rice, who resides outside Morgantown city limits. In the event that Rice is reappointed, or if any other non-resident of the City is appointed to the seat currently held by Rice, then the vacancy created by Ganz’ resignation must be filled by a resident of the City of Morgantown. If either vacancy is filled by a resident of the City, then any residential customer of MUB will be eligible to be appointed to the remaining seat, regardless of their place of residency.
