Chestnut Street and Forest Avenue to be impacted by construction

News Image

From Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1, Morgantown Utility Board will close the intersection of Chestnut Street and Forest Avenue. The closure will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and reopen daily after 4 p.m. and on weekends. During active construction, no thru traffic will be permitted along Chestnut Street to Willey Street.

The work will begin at Chestnut Street, then proceed along Forest Avenue toward High Street. We fully anticipate the total project to be completed by March 8.

This work may also impact a number of spaces in the parking lot bordered by Chestnut Street and Forest Avenue. MUB crews will do everything possible to provide access to this parking area and exits; however, the degree of impact and the details of the revised traffic plan will vary as work progresses. Please monitor mub.org and MUB social media sites for ongoing updates.

MUB advises avoiding this area during active construction.

This work is being performed by MUB staff in support of new construction along High Street. This project includes the installation of—

  • +/-131 feet of 12 inch PVC stormwater pipe and a manhole in Forest Avenue
  • +/-149 feet of 8 inch PVC sewer pipe and a manhole in Forest Avenue
  • +/-235 feet of 6 inch PVC water pipe and a manhole in Forest Avenue
  • 6 inch iron pipe for fire service
  • 6 inch iron pipe for additional fire service

Total project cost is approximated at $41,000. The full cost of this project is being paid for by the property owner requesting the work.
