Dr. Rich Brooks holds a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.A. in Teaching from Montclair State University, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from Louisiana State University. He is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
Dr. Brooks is a retired Certified Government Financial Manager and a retired Certified Fraud Examiner. He is a member of both the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). His teaching and research focused primarily on governmental and nonprofit accounting.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Brooks served as an accountant for a public school district in New Jersey and as an accountant/auditor for a municipality in Arizona. In that role, his primary responsibilities involved three proprietary funds: the solid waste fund (trash collection), the utility fund (water and sewer), and the airport fund.
