Hydrant Flow Testing

Throughout the month of August, a MUB team will conduct flow testing on hydrants in the South Park and South Hills area.

During flow testing, locations in and around the hydrant being tested may experience discolored water. This is due to minerals and deposits in the pipes being stirred when water flows are suddenly increased. Should this occur, run your faucet on cold at the lowest point of the house until the water runs clear, which may take 10-15 minutes. If your water doesn't clear the first time, wait a few minutes and repeat the process.

Customers may also experience low water pressure while flow testing is ongoing. This is temporary, with water pressure returning to normal after the hydrant is closed. Additional information is available at https://mub.org/fire-hydrants.
