MUB deferred payment program offered to those affected by the federal government shutdown

Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) is extending an existing deferred payment program to federal government employees and others impacted by the federal government shutdown. For those enrolled in the program, MUB will temporarily suspend amounts due on water, sewer and stormwater services. In addition, no late fees or other penalties will be applied to the accounts of enrolled customers and no service terminations will occur.

Following the end of the federal government shutdown, accumulated past due balances will be spread across six months.

Those wishing to participate in the deferred payment program must apply in person at the MUB office located at 278 Greenbag Road. Official documentation identifying the direct impact of the federal government shutdown (a paystub demonstrating pay disruptions, an official letter detailing employment furlough, disruption of federal benefits, etc.) must be provided at time of enrollment. Additionally, proof of residency for the account wishing to be deferred is required (driver’s license, lease/mortgage documents, tax receipts, voters registration, proof of public assistance, other utility invoices, vehicle registration, etc.).

Enrollment into the deferred payment program will be done on a case-by-case basis. Questions can be directed to Morgantown Utility Board by calling (304) 292-8443 or emailing customer-service@mub.org.
