MUB resumes construction of raw water pipeline through White Park

On Monday, January 6, Morgantown Utility Board contractors resumed construction of the raw water pipeline through White Park. As agreed upon, an arborist will remain on site to catalogue tree removal as well as any damage done to neighboring trees. Additionally, Triad Engineering will provide a soil inspector to monitor contaminated soil removal.

Initial work will primarily involve timbering beginning from Mississippi Street and moving back from that point. This portion of the work is expected to continue through March 2020. Daily work will occur Monday thru Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with MUB approved makeup work performed on Friday’s as needed.

Current work on the raw water pipeline will connect it with already installed sections that run along Mississippi Street to near the Woodland Trail entrance. The raw water pipeline is a necessary component of the 370 million gallon Flegal Dam and Reservoir being constructed along Cobun Creek Road.

To date, 15,875 feet of the raw water pipeline has been installed from the reservoir to White Park. The cost of constructing the alternative route through the park, including supplementary costs, is estimated at $1.5 million dollars.
