Water Service Line Inventory
Recently, MUB mailed a letter to many of our customers with respect to the service line inventory we are conducting throughout our water system. The letter was required to be sent by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and contained a general discussion about the effects of lead. In response, we received many phone calls from customers expressing concerns about the potential for lead in MUB’s water system. We want to take this opportunity to make clear that MUB has absolutely no concerns that there is any lead contamination in our water system. MUB routinely tests for lead in our water system in accordance with State and Federal law and no contamination has ever been detected.
The current objective of the water service line inventory is to engage customers in identifying their privately-owned water service line material at residences and businesses. To assist with this, a simple three-step process has been developed and made available at mub.org/inventory. We urge all customers to identify the material for the water line that enters your home or business and report that material to MUB.
