Fire Hydrant Flow Testing – May

News Image

During the month of May, the Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) will conduct fire hydrant flow testing in the Evansdale and Suncrest areas. This work is critical to ensuring that hydrants are functioning properly and can maintain the water pressure necessary to fight fires. Flushing the hydrants also helps remove sediment from the water system, supporting continued high water quality.

What Customers May Experience

Temporary Decrease in Water Pressure
When a hydrant is opened, water flow through the system increases significantly. This may cause a temporary drop in water pressure for nearby homes and businesses while flushing is underway. Pressure should return to normal once testing is complete.

If water pressure does not return:

  • Check other faucets in your home to ensure debris is not lodged in an aerator.
  • If low pressure continues, contact MUB at (304) 292-8443 or email customer-service@mub.org.

MUB appreciates your patience and cooperation as we complete this important maintenance work.
